Beach view
I was in the Beaches last evening and took a quick foray down to the boardwalk. It was beautiful, as this picture obviously shows. That orange blob in the distance is the Luety lifeguard station. Purdy, eh?

Pompoms
Am I the only one who is distracted while walking down the street by the pompoms on women's winter boots? I keep thinking something is flying off as they walk.I wonder how often they smack some poor dog in the eye as they walk by. They look like fuzzy dice for footwear. Next winter the fashion no doubt will be the same boots but with just the strings that used to hold the pompoms as they get snapped off in car and elevator doors or people start performing personal pompomacide in the privacy of their homes. We can only hope.

Another day of testing the fire alarms here on Dunfield. They have to check the speaker in every suite and so have the firealarm speakers emitting a low (loud) moan constantly. I'm sure they could use this sound as a form of torture. I have a blanket and some papers wedged in front of it in an effort to stop some of sound. I still feel like ratting out my CIA buddies to someone though.

Legal to Lost
I'm in the process of 'acquiring' the first season of Lost. I read an interesting article in The Star about the mysteries of this series and it has me intrigued. I kind of OD'd on Boston Legal (yes, too much Shatner) and am looking for something to replace it for my zone out breaks for a while.

Red alert.
I saw something interesting when I went out to get a sub for lunch. There was a guy in the elevator who was wearing a red ball cap (backwards, natch). He was standing directly under one of the halogen lights which reflected off his hat and created a bright red band all around the interior of the elevator. It was amazingly bright! Every time he moved his head it would undulate and flash along the wall. It reminded me of the red alert indicators on the Enterprise in Next Generation.
And, yes, all of life is nothing more than a steady stream of Star Trek references.

The ticket came back
Apparently my money isn't good enough so they sent back the cheque for my speeding ticket from last month. Actually, the form says that the ociffer didn't file the ticket into the system with in the prescribed time.
