Pompoms

Am I the only one who is distracted while walking down the street by the pompoms on women's winter boots? I keep thinking something is flying off as they walk.I wonder how often they smack some poor dog in the eye as they walk by. They look like fuzzy dice for footwear. Next winter the fashion no doubt will be the same boots but with just the strings that used to hold the pompoms as they get snapped off in car and elevator doors or people start performing personal pompomacide in the privacy of their homes. We can only hope.

i loooove this observation! and yes, you are the only one. i've never even noticed those things, i'm 100% serious here. but now, of course, i will.

I've noticed them, but not for the same reason - and I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say that they distract me from my own personal business of walkin' around - I like the pompoms on the boots, which is not to say I would be caught dead with them myself...

What are you saying, Kerry? not the pompom type, huh?

Under the heading "facing my fears" - I believe leaving one's comfort zone is always instructive - I am currently experimenting with doing things that I normally would not (as in, never ever). F. ex., I've had my makeup done by the Bobbi Brown gal in the middle of Holt Renfrew yesterday. Now for me, this was huge. And there are many other items in that "public grooming" sub-category, believe you me.

In this spirit of taking the road less traveled, dear Pisces (just a guess!), I invite you to at least borrow a pair of pompom boots, and going at it for a day. See where it takes you. I'd lend you mine but of course... I don't have 'em.

Good luck!

Think of the poor dog eyes.

Congratulations on the public grooming milestone Elise!

thank you. to mark the acocmplishment, i acquired a button showing an odd-looking little girl who looks sadly down at her feet, presumably cause one of her legs is shorter than the other. (or is it the absence of pompoms down there?) the dude at the register thought she was sad cause she was dead. but i definitely begged to differ. were she dead, she's be lying on her side, wouldn't she? dude don't know nothin'.

Sadly, I think the lack of pompoms has made many a girl sad.

>> dude don't know nothin'

I think that's an Aerosmith song.

Its not that I dislike pompom's persay, its more of an aversion to the idea of wearing the boots that generally have pompoms - they look a little 'too' warm (yes, its true). I can't bare the thought of being more bundled up then I am these days. Winter be GONE!

Do you mean to say that Holt Renfrew is passing out buttons of dead girls as a compliemtary gift for having a makeup application done in their store?

the button is from Outer Layer, on Queen w. it had been admired the weekend before, but after undergoing that traumatic makeover, i realized the pale, fragile girl and i belonged together. it's us against the makeup gals!

makeup gals are scary, indeed. men have no idea what those women do to themselves... not a clue...
