I thought penny luck worked on a calendar day basis and figured that I could probably get through the remaining 27 minutes of the day without luck enhancement.

oh hmm... right. although judging by the glove du jour, which turned out to be a sweat sock...
well. i guess we can all use good luck until the last minute of every day.

Ah yes, the sock ... You're right, I guess I should have picked up the penny after all.

you didn't pick it up?!
if it's true that we "make our own luck" it probably doesn't take much more effort to un-make it. years ago, i found a little metallic virgin mary silhouetted head, from a necklace or something, on the sidewalk. she looked so pathetic, and cheap. and she was dirty too. i still have her.

metallic virgin mary, green penny, sweat sock... things have been busy around here these past few days!
Hey John, how come you call your site 'greyfence'?

I believe in making your own luck. I read a book called 'The Luck Factor' which explored the whole idea of luck and the premise was that it is more a perception thing (the half full rather than half empty thing) as well as being observant and taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.

The name greyfence is one of those universal mysteries whose origins lay hidden in the mists of time...

I knew you wouldn't give me a straight answer.

There may be no true consensus as to the origins ... some might say that the seeds were laid by Merlin at King Arthur's court, others point to the hieroglyphs on the ruins of the Aztecs or maybe an LSD enhanced vision in the 60s. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
